You stir the sauce a bit with a big wooden spoon, but you do not taste it. You put the spoon back down and turn to look at Mark and as you do, your foot hits a vial. You see it scoot across the floor, so you grab a paper towel and carefully pick it up.

"Mark, do you think this might be important?" You ask.

Mark takes out a handkerchief out of his pocket and takes the vial. "You never know," he says. "We find anything else?"

"Just that that sauce smells awful," you say. "How could anyone eat that stuff?"

"Do you think you could get a sample of it?" Mark asks.

Before you can ask why, it clicks. "The vial was near the stove," you say. "It might have been used to poison the sauce."

A few hours later, with you, Amanda, Mark and Jesse hanging out waiting for Steve to return, the tests on the vial and sauce come back. It was full of Salmonella.

"If I had tasted that," you say. "I would have gotten sick."

"Thanks goodness you didn’t," Mark says. "It looks like this was how the victim died."

"How?" you ask.

"You remember when I told you about the person who died from food poisoning?" Jesse says.

You nod. "Is that how this guy died?"

This time Amanda answered. "Yes, it is."

"I guess the next question would be, who spiked the sauce?" You say.

"How would you like to find out?" Mark asks.
